Nestle, Starbucks alliance to release Starbucks coffee capsules to Thai retail market
In late August, Nestle has announced the release of Starbucks coffee capsules in Thailand for Nescafe's Dolce Gusto appliance.
Both Nestle and Starbucks created a coffee alliance in August 2018 which gave Nestle the right to market Starbucks consumer packaged goods and food service coffee and tea products around the world, outside Starbucks own stores and excluding RTD products.
The partnership is expected to consolidate Nestle's leading position in the global coffee business and expand Starbucks-branded products globally. Victor Seah, Chief Executive of Nestle Indochina said, “The coffee capsule segment is growing fast in Thailand. We are very pleased for Thai consumers to enjoy at home new Starbucks coffee capsules.”
Starbucks capsules is the first of many new products to launch under the global coffee alliance. The capsules include a variety of Starbucks blends and single-origin coffees such as cappuccino and Colombia espresso. All products are made from arabica coffee beans, sourced from farmers around the world. The products, priced from Bt 299 (US$9.80) per pack of 12 capsules, will be available in supermarkets nationwide, and on major online platforms.
Consumers can prepare the coffee capsules at home using the Nescafe Dolce Gusto system.
