Stern-Wywiol Gruppe opens new regional manufacturing hub in Malaysia
Stern-Wywiol Gruppe, a leading supplier of food and feed ingredients headquartered in Germany, through its manufacturing unit SternMaid Asia Pacific, has recently invested RM29 million (US$6.93 million) in a new 42,000 sq.ft manufacturing facility in Nusajaya Tech Park, located within the Iskandar Malaysia economic zone, near to Singapore.
The facility will be the group’s regional manufacturing hub in Asia Pacific, focusing on developing and producing highly-customised food ingredient systems to improve both functional and nutritional properties of food products, catered for its customers in the food and beverage industries.
The facility, well-equipped with European technology, has 3 completely separate production lines with total annual capacity of up to 5,000 tonnes and it will initially focus on enzyme-based ingredients systems for bakers and millers plus micronutrient mixes to fortify a wide variety of food and beverages. The facility is also in the process of getting Halal certification.
As a key manufacturing hub serving customers in the ASEAN region, the facility will be the group’s 3rd facility in Asia and complement its production plants in Suzhou, China and Mumbai, India, while contributing significantly to the overall manufacturing and distribution networks of the group in the region. The group also has a regional sales, marketing and customer service centre in Singapore.
Mr Torsten Wywiol, CEO of Stern-Wywiol Gruppe said, “Our new state-of-the-art site in Nusajaya Tech Park will be a vital cornerstone of our growth strategy for Asia and beyond, and we feel we have found the ideal place for our ambitious project. The growth potential in Asia remains promising, as our target food and beverage industries continue to benefit from the industrialisation of food manufacturing and distribution, especially in the emerging markets. We chose Nusajaya Tech Park due to its proximity to our regional office in Singapore. This new facility at Nusajaya Tech Park will allow us to offer the best possible value for our customers in the region, through shorter lead times and optimised logistics, as well as contingency plans for uninterrupted supply.”
Jointly developed by Ascendas and UEM Sunrise Berhad, Nusajaya Tech Park is an integrated tech park designed for a wide range of light to medium industries. Manohar Khiatani, Chairman of Nusajaya Tech Park Sdn Bhd and Deputy Group CEO of Ascendas-Singbridge said, “Stern-Wywiol Gruppe has been our long-term customer in China and we are pleased to partner them in their business expansion in Malaysia.”
