Udders to introduce a ‘health & wellness’ ice cream

Ice cream is often closely associated with high calories and thus deemed unhealthy to consumers. However, one locally-owned company, Udders, is all set to capture the growing ‘health conscious’ market with its new range of Nuude ice cream.
The firm claims the new brand is ‘natural, fresh, and clean label’. “With recent trends towards healthier living, we wanted to use our expertise and creativity to develop a new range of lower-sugar and lower-calorie ice creams for a different segment of customers, who are health-conscious and more deliberate about food choices,” said Wong Peck Lin, Founder of Udders. “Nuude ice cream is about … naked goodness. It goes back to basics using simple, clean, natural ingredients for a pure-tasting product, free from artificiality and nasties. We want Nuude to be known as a good, honest low-calorie ice cream packed with nature’s superfoods such as Goji Berries, Cacao Nibs and Camu Berries.”
The launch of Nuude is in line with Singapore’s war against diabetes and the growing health and wellness trend worldwide.
Wong added that Udders will be launching Nuude by late April this year. Nuude will contain 20-35% lesser sugar than regular premium ice cream, however flavour, creaminess and texture will not be compromised. In addition, it also contains superfoods for an extra health boost with 100% pure natural clean ingredients.
Nuude is one of the few mainstream premium ice creams produced in Singapore with 100% natural ingredients, and officially Certified Healthier-Choice by the Singapore Health Promotion Board (HPB) to be lower in sugar and calories.
Nuude is probably one unique product which has ‘hit the spot’ in achieving that great delicious taste of ice cream and yet healthy.
Nuude ice cream is expected to be launched in April this year on its online store and at Shell petromarts, Cold Storage and Specialty stores in 4 flavours namely Vanilla & Goji Berry, Alphonso Mango & Kaffir Lime Sorbet, Strawberry & Camu Berry and Dark Chocolate & Cacao Nibs Sorbet. More flavors will be released at a later date.
Customers have 3 packaging options namely 100ml single serve selling at S$5.50 (US$ ) or 500ml at S$15.90. Another option is 100ml single serve to be sold as a pack of four.
